Artist Profile

As with many artists, Scott Worden has been fascinated with art his whole life. Growing up in the upper North West portion of the country, in the beautiful emerald forests just below the Canadian border, he grew up and currently lives in Bellingham, Washington. Anyone who visits this gorgeous green area find it impossible to disregard the breathtaking landscapes, a fact that Mr. Worden has not overlooked, “I hope my paintings reveal the beauty of the Northwest to people who have never had the opportunity to see for themselves.”

Cloth isn’t this painter’s only canvas, his style was born from rolling works of functional art. In the ‘90’s he began pin-striping and air-brushing custom cars and motorcycles. He paid the bills with commercial art while sharpening his landscape realism painting skills on the side, “Back when I was pin-striping cars I noticed I loved the look of color on a black background. The void of a black canvas creates a contrast intensifying any color — a trait that can’t be duplicated using common white backgrounds.”

With no formal art education other than his own rigid self-discipline he never forgets to credit the masters that influenced his art. “I love so many artists, but there are really only four artists that I can say really influenced my style: Bev Doolittle’s Native American realism and hidden imagery, Thomas Kincaid ‘s use of light, M.C. Escher’s thought –provoking illustrations, and Audrey Flack's incredible airbrushing.”
