As part of my job, I am required to be with people 24 hours and 7 days a week. Every so often, I will get a few hours respite when I stand guard in a one-man post. But it is lonely out here amidst the crowd. Seeing the same people every fucking day, telling the same old stories the N-th time, seeing the same faces, the same personalities. I am not a machine that just chugs along as long as it is given fuel and oil. There is more to me, more to what I need than chow, water, and squared away gear.
